An optional (not included with this item) negative / slide / microfilm carrier accessory (click here to view) is available for this duplicator; it fits into the slide copier and enables copies to be made from un-mounted 35mm negative, transparency strips, black and white film, even 35mm microfilm. The opposite side of this carrier has a slide carrier slot designed for use with mounted 35mm slides: the slide carrier, when used in combination with our copier, surrounds and flattens your mounted slide film against the copier face, facilitating the best image quality possible.

"Technical" Information

Detailed instructions are included to help ensure that you obtain the highest quality images.

This device is designed to position the 35mm slide at the proper distance from the lens to give you the largest image possible. (This particular slide copier model may differ in length and/or thread size from the pictured model, though the design is identical.)

You can use various light sources to illuminate your slides or film. For instance, point your camera, with the slide copier attachment installed, towards: the sky, a light box, a light bulb, or point your camera at a white wall (or white paper taped to a wall) and use your camera's flash.

NOTE: The digital image produced does not completely fill the frame, allowing for trimming and/or cropping of the image with photo editing software as desired. This effect is seen as the small borders on the top and bottom of the image of the cat's face. This is an un-retouched, un-cropped image taken with a DSC-F505V; DSC-F717 and DSC-F707 models will have similar performance, so...

Even though customers have reported copying hundreds of slides with our standard models, if you are a professional photographer or have a large number of slides to copy, you may want to consider using the Universal Pro model. (You will need a 58-52mm step-down adaptor to use the Universal Pro model with these model cameras.)

The bottom line: this device allows you to obtain excellent results when copying 35mm slides with your Sony camera. It is very sturdily built, and will give you years of service with minimal care.
