The VAD-S70 is a Sony manufactured device that connects to the end of the lens of the DSC-S85, DSC-S75, DSC-S70, MVC-CD300, MVC-CD400 and MVC-CD500 model cameras. This device, when attached, allows your camera to accept standard 52mm threaded devices like filters and lens hoods. As this slide copier device attaches in the same manner, the VAD-S70 is required (click here to see ours) equipment (for DSC-S85, DSC-S75, DSC-S70, MVC-CD300, MVC-CD400 and MVC-CD500 models only); it is NOT included.

The MVC-FD90 and MVC-FD88 models have 37mm lens threads. A 37mm to 52mm step-up adaptor is required (click here to see ours) for these model cameras (MVC-FD90 and MVC-FD88 models only), and is NOT included.

An optional (not included with this item) negative / slide / microfilm carrier accessory (click here to view) is available for this duplicator; it fits into the slide copier and enables copies to be made from un-mounted 35mm negative, transparency strips, black and white film, even 35mm microfilm. The opposite side of this carrier has a slide carrier slot designed for use with mounted 35mm slides: the slide carrier, when used in combination with our copier, surrounds and flattens your mounted slide film against the copier face, facilitating the best image quality possible.

Detailed instructions are included to help ensure that you obtain the highest quality images.

This device is designed to position the 35mm slide at the proper distance from the lens to give you the largest image possible. (This particular slide copier model may differ in length and/or thread size from the pictured model, though the design is identical.)

It has a built-in diffusion device that allows you to use various light sources to illuminate the slide. For instance, you can point your camera, with the slide copier attachment installed, towards: the sky, a light box, a light bulb, or at a white wall using your camera's flash.

NOTE: The digital image produced does not completely fill the frame, allowing for trimming and/or cropping of the image with photo editing software as desired. This effect is seen as the border on the top and bottom of the image of the cat's face. This is an un-retouched, un-cropped image taken with a DSC-F505V; other camera models will have a wider border area around all sides of the image, so...

Even though customers have reported copying hundreds of slides with these standard models, if you have a large number of slides to copy, you may want to consider using the Universal Pro model. (The same adaptors, as specified above, will be necessary to use the Universal Pro copier with these model cameras.)

The bottom line: this device allows you to obtain excellent results when copying 35mm slides with your Sony camera. It is very sturdily built, and will give you years of service with minimal care.
