How do you ship, and how much does shipping cost?

What are your shipping charges?

Please proceed through checkout to see what the shipping charges will be for your particular selection of items and destination. Shipping rates are posted in all eBay auctions.

For eBay auctions, additional items (like a negative carrier or adapter ring) add $1.00 to shipping charges for each additional item. This is for domestic and international orders.

International buyers are responsible for payment of any import tax and/or duties imposed by their country. We will not artificially lower the declared value for international shipments.

What shipper do you use to ship orders?

Our standard carrier is the good ol' United States Postal Service (USPS). We use USPS for both U.S. and international shipments. We offer First Class, Priority Mail, and Express Mail service for U.S. shipments. Express Mail is guaranteed next-day or second-day delivery nationwide.

How often do you ship orders?

We ship our orders Monday - Friday and occasionally on Saturday if the coffee is particularly good. We attempt to ship orders within 2-3 business days of cleared payment.

How will I know when my order has been shipped?

We send a confirmation email the day your order ships.

How much does it cost to add the negative carrier to my eBay order?

Negative carriers vary in price and availability, please check our Vendio Store. Each additional item will add an extra $1.00 to your shipping charge. You can add any extra items to your order after the auction during the checkout process.

How much does it cost to add an adapter to my eBay order?

Adapters vary in price and availability, please check our Vendio Store. Each additional item will add an extra $1.00 to your shipping charge. You can add any extra items to your order after the auction during the checkout process.

Do you have a slide copier for my camera?

First,
check to see if it is located in this chart for our Universal Professional copier. If you found your camera model in the chart, follow directions from that page, otherwise continue with the following.

You will need to determine if your camera can accept standard threaded devices. If it can accept standard threaded devices, continue to the next step, otherwise we cannot offer a copier for your camera at this time.

If you can't determine whether your camera has threads or not here is a helpful website: http://dpreview.com  - find your camera model and scroll down the page to the entry for "Lens threads".

If your camera shows "None" for "Lens threads", you can check one more place to see if there may be an adapter available to provide standard threads for your camera. Enter your camera model into the search box at the B&H Photo Video site: http://bhphotovideo.com. If there is an adapter for your camera, it will show up in the search results. Make sure that if you have a choice between different adapters that you choose the one that is made for telephoto lenses - it will be the longer adapter.

If you have determined that your camera does have standard threads or an adapter that provides standard threads, so far so good. If the threads on the lens or adapter are not 52mm you will need step-up or step-down adapters to provide your camera with 52mm threads. If you can't get standard threads onto your camera, we cannot offer a copier for your camera at this time.

The next item to determine is if your camera can fill the frame with a slide-sized image. If your camera is an SLR (has interchangeable lenses), read the information at this link.

If your camera is not an SLR, you will need to know if your camera has 100mm of focal length (in 35mm equivalency terms) in it's range. You can check the range in your manual or at DPReview.com: http://dpreview.com, which lists "Zoom wide (W)" and "Zoom tele (T)" in 35mm equivalency terms.

If your camera has, say, Zoom wide (W) of 35mm and Zoom tele (T) of 105mm, 100mm is within the range of your lens, and you will be able to fill the frame with an image the size of a slide using our Universal Professional Slide Copier. If, on the other hand, the Zoom tele (T) falls below 100mm, say 85mm, you won't be able to completely fill the frame with a slide-sized image. In this example, you would be able to fill about 85% of the frame with the slide-sized image using our Universal Professional Slide Copier.

What are the Advantages / Disadvantages of your slide copiers?

  • Our company policy, specifically in regards to returns: We have an unconditional no-hassle return policy in case the copier doesn't meet your needs for any reason.

  • We truly believe this to be the highest quality, most capable and versatile film copying attachment on the market.

Advantages of our copiers vs. other slide copiers:

  • Simplicity & ruggedness of design:  There aren't many parts to this copier, and the parts that are there are solid and sturdy. We guarantee this product to be free from defective material and workmanship under normal usage conditions for a period of one year.

  • Automatic slide alignment: We are unaware of any other slide copier that offers automatic slide alignment within the copier. This advantage helps make your copying job quick and easy.

  • Negative / filmstrip carrier is available: Many copiers don't offer this ability at all.

  • Full slide alignment capability: With the automatic slide alignment device removed, you have full control to align your slide or film -- vertically and horizontally -- when zooming in to capture a portion of the slide.

Advantages of our copiers vs. slide/film scanners:

  • Cost: A decent scanner currently costs around $500 or more.

  • Time: Even good scanners usually require at least a minute per scan, and after you hook in the goodies that really make it work well, you're generally up to three minutes or longer per image! Many of our customers already own a scanner, but purchase one of our copiers because they can get their work done a lot faster with the copier than with their scanner.

  • Ease of use: These scanners need to be connected to your computer of course, and this often leads to issues and problems.

  • Complaints: Add all of the above together and you can see why!

  • Check it out at Amazon.com: Read the customer reviews for available film scanners (Search for "film scanners" in Electronics).

Disadvantages of our copiers vs. other slide copiers:

  • We are unaware of any disadvantages of our slide copiers vs. other slide copiers currently available on the market.

Disadvantages of our copiers vs. slide/film scanners:

  • Resolution: With a decent scanner ($500+), you will generally achieve higher resolution than you will with a digital camera - but the cameras are catching up! Even though this is true, current digital cameras provide more than enough resolution for most uses.

  • Image quality: With a decent scanner, you will usually achieve better image quality (less distortion) than you will with your camera and any slide copier. If you are really picky, you might want to consider using a scanner instead - keeping in mind the disadvantages of scanners as noted above.

Advantages / disadvantages of standard vs. Universal Pro models

  • Our Universal Pro model comes with a high quality, +10 diopter macro close-up lens. We have Pro models for certain Nikon Coolpix camera models that do not come with the extra lens. We have standard models for various Sony camera models. The standard models, combined with these Sony cameras don't quite fill the frame with a slide sized image.

  • For Nikon cameras: If we offer a Pro model for your specific model of Nikon Coolpix camera (8700, 5700, 5400, 5000, 4500, 4300, 995, 990, 950, 885, 880), use it - don't use the Universal Pro model! The Pro models for Nikon cameras cost less because they don't need the extra macro lens, and you will achieve superior results since you don't have the extra piece of glass between your camera and the slide. These cameras are capable of filling the frame with a slide sized image using their own inherent superior macro capability.

  • For Sony cameras: If we offer a standard model for your specific model of Sony CyberShot or Sony Mavica camera, you have a choice to use either the standard model or the Universal Pro model. There are pros and cons to each model, so it is rather difficult to provide a straightforward answer as to which model to use. It depends upon your personal preferences, the camera, and the slides.

As a general rule, if you have the the choice, you will probably achieve better image quality with the standard model than with the Universal Pro model because you won't have the extra lens between your camera and the slide, however, you will not be able to fill the frame completely with the standard model so you will probably want to crop the resulting images. The DSC-F505V, DSC-F707, and DSC-F717 model cameras along with the standard copier found at the above links come fairly close to filling the frame, other Sony camera models using the standard copier will have wider border areas around the image. If you have a large number of slides to copy, you may want to consider using the Universal Pro model.
